Makeup Look: Blue and Green

I decided to go for something a little more colourful for the next eye look. I was actually trying to achieve a different look when creating this but I liked when it turned out this way.
How I created this look:

1. I applied Revlon's Vital Radiance Smoothing Eye Primer to my eye lids.

2. Then I used the dark blue in 17 'Moody Blue' trio eyeshadow and applied it to my entire eyelid and slightly about the crease.

3. Now I used the second darkest green shade in 17 'midnight storm' trio eyeshadow and blended it with the dark blue.
4. Then I wanted to use a green with a frostier look so I used 17 solo eyeshadow in 'Green Glimmer'. I placed this in the inner corner and blended over the entire eyelid.

5. I then placed some of the lightest green from the 17 'Midnight storm' trio eyeshadow under my brow bone. I blended this down to the crease.
6. I was going to use black eyeliner but decided on something different and went with a gold gel eyeliner. I also decided to bring it all the way up to my eyebrow.
7. Once I had applied the eyeliner, I then used Benefit's Bad Gal mascara to make my lashes look full and lengthened.
A close-up of the eyeliner.

I couldn't fit all of the colours into this chart but it's explained in the post.

What do you think? Can you suggest any improvements that I can make to the look?

Barry M Intense Black Eyeliner Pen

Yet another eyeliner, this is something that I am always trying to find the best of.
Product
Barry M describes this mascara as 'a waterproof, long wear formulation in a retractable pack for easy use'. This eyeliner does apply easily and goes on smoothly. It doesn't smudge on the top eyelid, which can be both a good and bad thing. It's good if you want a clear line of eyeliner. However, if you want to blend it for a smoky look it is a little more difficult but not impossible.  I also find that holding this in my hand for a few seconds helps to heat the eyeliner and makes it easier to apply.

As this mascara comes in a retractable pen it makes it harder to get a thin black line. Even after trying it a few times I still had a lot of problems getting a very thin line because I couldn't sharpen it.  This has a very smooth and soft texture.
Longevity
I found this mascara to be waterproof on my top lid, however when applied to the waterline it didn't last very long and caused me to have black eyeliner under my eyes. Not a look that I particularly like.  This is a problem that I have with many eyeliners.  It was easily removed, after a days wear, using eye makeup remover.

Packaging
This mascara comes in a retractable eyeliner so a sharpener is not necessary. This is good and also bad. It's good in that you can use the eyeliner even if you forget to bring a sharpener and also if the top becomes very soft and breaks, which can happen with many eyeliners. This does, however, lead to the problem I outlined above in that it is more difficult to get a thin line.  Also as it is retractable it is important not to unscrew too much of the product or it will break off, which happened to me the first time I used it.
Price
I bought this on Amazon for £3.98.  The only place that I know in Ireland that Barry M is available in Ireland is in Boots or Superdrug.

Would I buy this again? No, I had purchased this as I wanted an eyeliner I could use on the waterline without it moving under my eyes.

It's arrived!

I recently blogged that I was waiting for a number of makeup related products to arrive and I got a nice surprise today when they arrived two days early. The products included: Max Factor Second Skin Foundation in Ivory, Max Factor Lasting Performance Foundation in 100 Fair,  Barry M Intense Eyeliner Pen in black and NYX mascara in Black Long Lash. I will be reviewing them shortly. I'll be starting with the Max Factor Lasting Performance Foundation as I have used this before. I will review the rest once I have tried them as few times.

Have you ever tried any of these products?

Elf Cream Eyeliner

Yet another eyeliner review.

Product
Elf cream eyeliner is meant to, according to the Elf website, 'Creates smooth lines that are defined and precise. Smudge-proof, budge-proof and water-resistant coverage for all day wear to combat against, sweat, tears and rain!'.  I didn't find this to be a very effective eyeliner.  I found it hard to apply and also wasn't very pigmented when I applied it. If I went over it once or twice when applied then the colour showed up a little more but still not very dark.

There was also a brush with this eyeliner, I couldn't find it when I was taking these pictures.  I didn't think that this brush was very good, it was very flimsy and small. I used a fine tip brush and also a slanted eyeliner brush.

Longevity
After I applied this and achieved the colour that I wanted it did stay on for the day. However it did fade slightly. I think it depends greatly on the level of oiliness of the eyelids.
Packaging
This eyeliner comes in a small square glass container. It contains 0.16oz or 4.7g.
Price
I bought this online at Elf UK. They have great offers online and if you follow them on Facebook you can avail of the many promotional codes that they post.  This eyeliner cost me €4.

Would I buy this again? No. Although I would like to try one of their new shimmer cream eyeliner. I can always hope that its a different formula.

Collection 2000 Fast Stroke Eyeliner

Yet another Collection 2000 eyeliner.  This time is a black liquid eyeliner.
Fast stroke eyeliner

Product:
Fast stroke eyeliner is a black eyeliner with a fine tipped applicator. I wouldn't consider this to be a very very black eyeliner. I also have to shake the bottle before I apply this and then when applied I would need to over the eyeliner again to get the desired black colour that I wanted. I would also consider this to be very liquid, I know its a liquid eyeliner, however I have used eyeliners that are not as runny as this one. However, Fast stroke does glide across the eyelid so its easy to apply.

Felt tip

Longevity:
This eyeliner has good longevity. I applied it mainly over an eyeshadow primer and it lasts all day. However there were times when it was difficult to remove. However, I wasn't that surprised by this as it stayed on so well.

Swatch

Packaging:
I liked the packaging for this eyeliner. It came in a compact little bottle and was easy to travel with. There was also a lot of product in the small bottle.  There is 6ml of product in the bottle. It indicates on the bottle 'For precision & definition. Shake well before use'. I would definitely recommend following this step.

Price:
I purchased this about two months ago so cant remember the exact price, however I think it was approximately €6-€7. I bought this in Boots

Would I buy this product again? I'm not actually sure about this, I think it will depend on when I finish this bottle. I like the packaging and the way it glides on, however I dislike that the colour isn't very black when first applied.

Collection 2000 Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner

I usually purchase only black felt tip eyeliners, however I decided to buy a coloured eyeliner and decided on the Collection 2000 Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner.

Eyeliner

Product
I purchased this eyeliner in 'Teal', which is a really great colour. It goes with so many different green eye looks that I have worn. I have also added it to some black smokey looks to give it a little edge. The pigmentation of this eyeliner is very strong and stroking it across the eyelid once greats a strong look. If it is used more than once on the lid it darkens the liner slightly, which I don't see as a disadvantage.
The felt tip of the eyeliner is very soft so doesn't cause any irritation to eyes when applying it. It is also easy to apply because of the softness of the felt tip.

Felt tip

Longevity
Extreme 24 Hour Felt tip liner does actually last 24 hours. I have worn it for up to 14 hours, which I realise is not 24 hours, and it has lasted and even when I've gone to take it off it has been difficult. This might be the one disadvantage of this product, it stays on so well that its very difficult to remove.

Swatch

Packaging
This eyeliner comes in a thin black tube, somewhat like a pen. It has a removable lid and underneath is a felt tip for easy application, as shown above.

Extreme

Price
I can't remember the exact price of this but it was probably about €4 or €5.

Would I buy this product again? Yes, but I would buy it in black as I feel I would use it more.

Essence Gel Eyeliner: Berlin Rocks

Since this is my first official blog review, I decided to start with the most recent product that I have purchased.  Although this wasn’t expensive it was definitely an in impulse purchase, it was on a stand just before I paid and I really liked the colour.
Product:
This is a purple gel eyeliner, I got it in shade 03, Berlin Rocks. The pigmentation for this eyeliner is great.  I like that when I apply the first layer it is very pigmented but when I apply another layer the colour is darker and I can use it for a very different look.  This has a very soft texture. As you can see from the photographs, it looks almost wet.  As soon as I placed the eyeliner brush into the eyeliner pot it sunk into the eyeliner, therefore I would recommend a light hand when using the product.

Longevity:
Considering the price of this product, it has great longevity.  I put it on in the morning and have a busy day and it’s still almost perfect when I get home. Therefore, it usually lasts 8 hours or so.  If I planned to wear in from day to night, I would reapply another layer to freshen up the look.

 Packaging:
As you can see from the pictures, the packing is very basic but sturdy. The lid is plastic and the eyeliner is contained in a glass container.  I recently moved and it survived the moving process so I think that is a sign that it will last for a long time.

Price:
This was very inexpensive, I paid €3.49. Considering how good I think this product is, I am surprised that it’s not more expensive.  I will be going back to buy this in black.

Would I buy this product again?  Yes
