Makeup Look: Plumtastic

This is another look created with the Urban Decay Naked Palette. I would consider this a good look for day time or if you prefer something neutral. I used mainly the purple and plum colours. Although the colours appear more brown in the pictures for some reason. 

How I created this look:

1. I primed my eyes from lid to brow bone. 

2. I then applied 'Toasted' on to the entire eyelid. I blended it in to make it appear more natural and soft.  

3. Next I applied 'Hustle' to the crease and blended it with 'Toasted'. I wanted the colours to be very blended and very soft. 

4. I applied 'Virgin' just above where 'Hustle' ended all the way to my brow bone to highlight the area. 

5. I finally applied NYX doll eye mascara to my top and bottom lashes. 

I wanted to keep this look very simple therefore there are only a few steps. I wear this look a lot as it is good for nearly all day  looks. 

Collection 2000 Eye Palette: Angelic

Product
Collection 2000 eye palettes are described as 'containing 9 on-trend, complementary shades in one beautifully packaged pack. Ideal for girls on the go!'. The Angelic palette is also described as being 'nine muted shades that will cater for your day-to-day needs. The bronzes, grey's, pinks and purples are essential shades to take you from dull to delicious, all in one compact pack'. I agree with some of this and some I don't.

The pigmentation from these eyeshadows is good considering the price. The pigmentation was better for the darker colours but was still overall very good. There is also very little fallout, even though there are a few of the more glittery ones that had a little more fallout but still not a ridiculous amount. The texture of these shadows is a little chalky but not overly chalky. When I apply these I will use a primer. I usually apply these dry with an eyeshadow brush.

The statement at the top indicates that these eyeshadows are nine muted colours, I don't fully agree with this. I wouldn't consider oink, blur or yellow muted. It would also depend on the situation during the day that these colours would be suitable for. It does however cover most of the primary colour that you might need. They are a good set of basic colours. The Angelic eye shadow palette contains a deep green, shimmery white, pink, purpley blue colour, navy blue, sky blue, a golden bronze and a brown bronze.

Longevity
There is good longevity from these eyeshadows when worn with an eyeshadow primer. I would usually get between six and eight hours from these eyeshadows before any creasing would occured.

Packaging
The packaging of these eyeshadows is paper and can be flimsy at times. There is a magnet to keep the lid closed. I would say that the packaging design is nice but it is also very retro and almost old fashioned. I have taken this with me when travelling and it has been fine and the eyeshadows haven't spilled everywhere.

Price
I purchased this a while ago so I can't remember the exact price but it was approximately €5. It is available from Boots.

Would I buy this again? Yes. I have used this a lot. I would also like to try the new Smokey eye palette.

July Favourites

I know it's a few days into August so I apologise for being a little bit late with my July Favourites.  

1. I'll start with what I have definitely been using the most. It also made an appearance for the June favourites.  It's Urban Decay's Naked palette.  I still use this nearly everyday and also night for creating different looks. 

2. I have also been using Urban Decay's Supercurl mascara a lot this month since I received it for my birthday. It  really finishes off an eye look and is great for day and night time.  

3. With regards to foundation I have been using Max Factor Lasting Performance. It gives me great coverage and also gives a flawless look.  

4. For priming my eyes before eyeshadow I have been using Revlon Vital Radiance. It gives great longevity to any eyeshadow that I apply and also prevents any creasing.  

5. For my lips I have been using a Benefit lipstick in LaLa Land. I will be reviewing a few of Benefits lipsticks soon. 

6.  I have been using a variety of different blushers and bronzers over the past month. I have been trying to use different ones instead of using my Benefit Coralista and also testing some other's for review purposes.  

7. For my nails I have been using, again, Penny's Cornflower and also Tesco's Barbara Daly Goodbye Yellow.

8. For my brushes I have been using mainly MAC 187 for foundation and No7 concealer brush and also Elf stippling brush for applying my high definition powder. I have used some other brushes too but these have been the ones I have used most.  

Accessorize Palette

I love palettes. They are easy to travel with and also to create a variety of looks. I received this palette as a Christmas present. 

Product

This palette contains nine eyeshadows, three lip glosses,  a double sided eyeshadow applicator and a double sided lipgloss applicator. There is a variety of different colours in this palette. The first row consists of browns and coppers. The second row has a variety of silver, black/grey and purple. The final row is composed of greens. I like this palette as it allows me to create many different looks with one palette. 

These are very pigmented and also very easy to blend together. As you can see, as I've used most of it, I love the silver colour as it is very good for brightening the eyes and also can be used with nearly all colours.  

There is a small amount of fallout from these eyeshadows. It is not a lot however considering it's an accessorize palette. This is the only complain that I have with this. 

There are three lipglosses in this palette. A pale pink, a blushed shade of pink and a ruby red colour. 

Longevity
The swatches shown below are without primer. These will usually last me for a whole day. I will apply them in the morning and then then are usually perfect in the night time when I remove them.
I've had this for several months and haven't used these glosses that much. I used them once or twice when I got the palette initially. I have applied it over lipstick and it did last for about two hours and then would have needed to reapply. However, I wouldn't always carry this with me as it a makeup palette. I have also applied it without lipstick and the results was somewhat lighter.

Packaging

This palette comes in a hard card type palette which is actually very study. I have travelled with this several times and all the eyeshadows have remained undamaged. These is also a clear plastic covering over the area containing the sponge applicators and lip gloss applicators.  

Price

As this was a present I dont actually know that price. I do know however that it was purchased in Boots. It was also available at Accessorize at the time. 

Would I but this again? Yes, I hope that they release something like this next Christmas as I will definitely but it again.  Although I didn't use the lipglosses a lot, I usually don't in palettes and always focus on the eyeshadows.  

Urban Decay Naked Palette

Everyone seems to have this palette and I didn't buy it until recently and, I'm not sure why I waited so long because I love it.  

Product
I'll begin with what you get in the naked palette. The palette itself contains twelve eyeshadow, a good karma eyeshadow brush and also a small bottle of primer potion. The product, when initially launched, included a double ended 24/7  eyeliner but has since been replaced with the eyeshadow brush. From reading other reviews I seem to be the only one that likes the addition of the eyeshadow brush.  The brush is of very good quality.
 
This is a palette with a lot of neutral colours. Although, while, the majority of colours are neutral, there are also a variety of colours that can be used to create very different looks and add something extra to the usual neutral looks.

There are twelve shadows included, each at 0.05oz. The colours include:

• Virgin - this is a very light nude colour. It goes with all of the colours in the palette and is one of my favourites.  This has a satin finish. 

• Sin - this is part of their permanent collection. This is a little darker than 'Virgin' but also a lovely colour. It is a shimmer finish. 

• Naked - this is also a part of the permanent collection. This is a matte colour. It is a light brown colour.  This is one of two matte colours in the palette. 

• Sidecar -when I first opened the palette this was my favourite colour. I still love the colour, however I find that the Sidecar has a different formula than the other colours. It is a very sparkley beige colour which I dont particularly like about the eyeshadow, however I still love the actual colour, however.  

• Buck - This is the second matte colour in the palette. It is a darker brown than that of Naked. 

• Half Baked - part of the permanent collection. This is a bronze colour.

• Smog - also in the permanent collection. This is a golden brown shimmer. Its darker than that half baked.  

• Darkhorse - this is a dark bronze shimmer. Very versatile colour and goes with so much in the palette.   

• Toasted - part of the permanent collection. This is described as a taupe bronze colour, however I think it has slight pink undertones.  When I first opened the palette, this was a colour that I wasn't very interested in, however I know now it. Its such an easy colour to wear and can be used with many other colours. 

• Hustle -this is also described as a mocha shimmer, I also think that it has purple undertones. It goes great with 'toasted'.

• Creep - this is an almost black metallic colour. It creates a great smokey eye. 

• Gunmetal - part of the permanent collection. This is also great for a smokey eye look. Its a dark grey metallic.  It appears to have dark blue undertones. 

The pigmentation for all of these eyeshadows is excellent. For colours, such as, 'Creep' and 'Gunmetal' a small amount of product will create a dramatic smokey eye.  
The texture for all the eyeshadows is very smooth. They range from glitter to shimmer to matte. Which is great because there are not many palettes that offer matte colours along with glitter.  
The only problem that I had with the application was that there was fall out, which is easily resolved. 
Longevity
I use eyeshadow primer under all of my eyeshadows but even when using a small amount with these eyeshadows they last for so long. I have applied it at 9 in the morning and removed it at 12 at night and have seen very little creasing. When I used more primer they last even longer, which is great because you dont have to touch-up your eyeshadow. 

 Packaging
This was an area that I was apprehensive about as the outside of the palette has a  chocolate velvet case. I felt that this would quickly start to look dirty and be difficult to clean. I find that simply wiping it with a dry tissue removes any marks that appear. The 'Naked Urban Decay' is in gold foil lettering on the front. The lid lifts up to reveal the twelve eyeshadows and the good karma eyeshadow brush. There is also a small mirror on the inside, which I find difficult to use but would be fine in a situation if no other mirror was available.  

Price
I purchased this from the House of Fraser. It was £32. Delivery to Ireland was £3. So overall I paid £35, which was €40. I know this is more expensive that on the Urban Decay website but I decided that I'd rather pay a little extra and receive it earlier.   House of Fraser seemed to be the only place that I could order the palette from at the time I was ordering, as everyone was out of stock.  


Would I buy this product again? Yes. I have used this product everyday since I bought it and it looks like I have touched it.
