Collection 2000 Eye Palette: Angelic

Product
Collection 2000 eye palettes are described as 'containing 9 on-trend, complementary shades in one beautifully packaged pack. Ideal for girls on the go!'. The Angelic palette is also described as being 'nine muted shades that will cater for your day-to-day needs. The bronzes, grey's, pinks and purples are essential shades to take you from dull to delicious, all in one compact pack'. I agree with some of this and some I don't.

The pigmentation from these eyeshadows is good considering the price. The pigmentation was better for the darker colours but was still overall very good. There is also very little fallout, even though there are a few of the more glittery ones that had a little more fallout but still not a ridiculous amount. The texture of these shadows is a little chalky but not overly chalky. When I apply these I will use a primer. I usually apply these dry with an eyeshadow brush.

The statement at the top indicates that these eyeshadows are nine muted colours, I don't fully agree with this. I wouldn't consider oink, blur or yellow muted. It would also depend on the situation during the day that these colours would be suitable for. It does however cover most of the primary colour that you might need. They are a good set of basic colours. The Angelic eye shadow palette contains a deep green, shimmery white, pink, purpley blue colour, navy blue, sky blue, a golden bronze and a brown bronze.

Longevity
There is good longevity from these eyeshadows when worn with an eyeshadow primer. I would usually get between six and eight hours from these eyeshadows before any creasing would occured.

Packaging
The packaging of these eyeshadows is paper and can be flimsy at times. There is a magnet to keep the lid closed. I would say that the packaging design is nice but it is also very retro and almost old fashioned. I have taken this with me when travelling and it has been fine and the eyeshadows haven't spilled everywhere.
Price
I purchased this a while ago so I can't remember the exact price but it was approximately €5. It is available from Boots.

Would I buy this again? Yes. I have used this a lot. I would also like to try the new Smokey eye palette.

Cartice Ultimate Nail Lacquer: 430 Purplelized

Product
This nail polish is described as 'absolutely breathtaking', with an 'innovative, flat professional brush that ensures an optimal application'. There are 46 colours in this range. This nail polish is very glittery, however very small glittery particles. The polish has a smooth texture and applies very smoothly. The first coat isn't sheer but I always apply two coats to get full coverage.
Longevity
The longevity from this nail polish is amazing. I can get five to six days from this polish without any chipping and when it does begin to chip it is very unnoticeable.
Packaging
The packaging for this product is very simple. The bottle is made of a clear glass and the lid is a black plastic. There is 10ml or 0.33 Fl.oz.
Price
I paid €3.49 for this nail polish. It has recently been limited it certain pharmacies. I purchased this in McCabes in Dundrum Shopping Centre. I know that it is also available in Dunnes Stores shopping centre on BriarHill, Co. Galway and it is also available in Duffy's in Kilrush, Co. Clare. It is available online at Catrice.

Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer

I got this concealer ages ago and have been meaning to review it for a long time because it is a great budget concealer.
Product
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer promises to 'take you from dawn to dusk and back again, with no need for reapplication. The ultimate wear concealer promises to conceal flaws, imperfections and blemishes again, for up to 16 hours. The skin perfecting, oil free product is also transfer proof and water resistant for full and long lasting coverage. It provides beautiful, blemish-free skin for every waking hour'.

I usually apply this to cover dark circles and also any blemishes that I have. The consistency of this is really good. It's creamy yet not too think and therefore easy to blend. The coverage is just right and it creates a very natural look. There is a dop-top applicator. I don't really like this for hygiene reasons so therefore I will apply it to the back of my hand and then use a concealer brush. I will then pat it into the area I want to apply it to. I got this in 'Fair' which is the the perfect colour for me. I have very pale skin and this still manages to be a little lighter so therefore a perfect concealer.

Longevity
The longevity of this concealer is excellent. It will last all day. There are times that it will crease however this is easily fixed by running your finger over it to smooth out the lines under my eyes.
Packaging
The packaging for this doesn't look very expensive and, well it isn't. But for a drugstore brand it isn't terrible. The tube is a clear plastic and the lid is a black plastic. There is 12ml of product provided. This comes in four shades: Fair, Light, Medium and Deep.

Price
I paid approximately €6 for this concealer. It is available from Boots.

Would I buy this again? Yes.

Makeup Look: Blue and Green

I decided to go for something a little more colourful for the next eye look. I was actually trying to achieve a different look when creating this but I liked when it turned out this way.
How I created this look:

1. I applied Revlon's Vital Radiance Smoothing Eye Primer to my eye lids.

2. Then I used the dark blue in 17 'Moody Blue' trio eyeshadow and applied it to my entire eyelid and slightly about the crease.

3. Now I used the second darkest green shade in 17 'midnight storm' trio eyeshadow and blended it with the dark blue.
4. Then I wanted to use a green with a frostier look so I used 17 solo eyeshadow in 'Green Glimmer'. I placed this in the inner corner and blended over the entire eyelid.

5. I then placed some of the lightest green from the 17 'Midnight storm' trio eyeshadow under my brow bone. I blended this down to the crease.
6. I was going to use black eyeliner but decided on something different and went with a gold gel eyeliner. I also decided to bring it all the way up to my eyebrow.
7. Once I had applied the eyeliner, I then used Benefit's Bad Gal mascara to make my lashes look full and lengthened.
A close-up of the eyeliner.

I couldn't fit all of the colours into this chart but it's explained in the post.

What do you think? Can you suggest any improvements that I can make to the look?

Barbara Daly Goodbye Yellow

Any one who is interested in nails or needs a good clear clear nail polish should definitely have this polish.
Product
Barbara Daly Goodbye Yellow is a nail polish that intends to say goodbye to yellow nails. It is designed to disguise staining left from other nail polishes. It is clear nail polish that can be used alone or as a base coat. It makes nails appear pink and healthier and also gives the tips a whiter look. It is great for giving nails a clean appearance. This nail polish dries very fast. It also doesn't appear think or lumpy when applied.

This nail polish won't remove discolouration but it will disguise the discolouration caused by nail polishes. Also, I only apply one layer of this when using it alone as when you apply a few coats it makes the nails go a purplish colour and they don't appear to be healthy.

Longevity
This polish lasts for five to six days when I use it. It won't chip for this long and when it does it is a very small amount of chipping.
Packaging
This nail polish comes in a nice plastic box. The polish itself comes in a cloudy coloured glass bottle with a black plastic handle.
Price
I paid approximately €6 for this nail polish. It is available in any Tesco stores that stocks the Barbara Daly range.

Would I buy this again? Yes. I have bought many bottles of this nail polish.

Sites of the Week: 2 September 2011

Inspiration needed for doing your hair then here are some good ideas.

Want some Vitamin C then this post will tell you where to get it and help with more Vitamins.

Some useful kitchen ingredients that can actually help you hair. I have tried the baking soda one and it does really make your hair feel very clean.

If style help is needed then this is the best place to start. You will get great inspiration from the pictures.

A little off topic but the main point of the tale is funny.

If you have brown eyes or really like green eyeshadow then this is a good post for you.

Here are some amazing designs to feast your eyes on.

Penny's eyebrow kit

When I first saw this I wasn't sure if it would be any good but I then heard a lot of people talking about it and everyone seemed to like it. The next time I had an opportunity to buy it I did and I'm so glad that I did.
Product
There are a lot of different things in this little set for the price. It comes with three stencils, an eyebrow pencil, 2 shadows, wax, mini tweezers and an angled brush. There is also instructions on the lid to help you use it.
I will start with what I like about this set. The tweezers are really great. These are the tweezers that I always reach for now when I am doing my eyebrows. They are mini tweezers so they might not suit everyone but I love them. I also like the two shadows that are in the set.
What I didn't like about this set was the eyebrow pencil was too dark for my eyebrows. It made them appear almost dirty. I also don't like the angled brush provided as it is very hard and doesn't brush the product smoothly onto my eyebrows.
I don't really have a lot to say about the stencils as I don't use them that often. I have read other good reviews about them though that they give a great shape and are easy to use.

Packaging
The packaging is made from a think cardboard. The lid doesn't have a magnet to keep it closed so might be a problem if you travel with this set. I don't usually travel with this as it is a larger eyebrow kit.
Price
This eyebrow kit cost €4 and it is available from Penny's/Primark.

Would I buy this again? Yes.

Hair tutorial: Low side pony tail.

This is the first look or tutorial that I am doing relating to hair. I usually leave my hair down but have recently started to try different things with it.
When I wash my hair I apply a leave in conditioner and a hair mousse to give volume. This may affect the way a look turns out depending on your hair type.
I started by brushing my hair and pulling it all to one side. I pulled it to the right side as this is the side my fringe is at but either side will work.

Once I had pulled my hair to one side, I tided it with a band. I then used a comb to create a messier look by taking smaller strands of my hair out of the band.
Once I had finished this, I took a long strand of hair from the inside of the ponytail to wind around the band. When I had put all of the strand of hair around the band I used a hair grip to secure the hair. I placed it on the inside so that it was not noticeable.
I lightly backcombed the top of my hair to add more volume. I then used hair spray on all of my hair to secure it.

What do you think?
