Gifts!

I haven't posted anything in a few days and the reason was it was my twenty-first birthday and I had a lot to organise. I also had family and friends coming to visit so I didn't get time to do the posts I had planned.

I did however get some really nice presents so I'm going to share those things with you.

Lets share!

I know I have only recently started blogging (I think that's a word!) but I want to know about those who are reading the posts.  So post below and introduce yourself to the rest of us.

I'll start.  I am a recent college graduate with a Bachelor of Commerce. I will be starting a Masters degree in September. I also have a great love for all things make-up, hair, shoes and fashion, hence why I wanted to start this blog.  I love to play music, I currently play the piano and it's usually what I do to relax. I also like to read and like to read a variety of different genres...doesn't get boring that way!!

Sites of the Week: 15 July 2011

These are some very cool packaging ideas. I really like the sandwich bag one.

White can be a hard colour to wear but the summer is here and white is a very refreshing colour to wear. This outfits post gives some very simple ways to make white wearable.

It's a problem faced by all women at some point...a broken blusher or eyeshadow. There is a simple way to fix that problem.

I would love to be able to work the shampoo-less look however my fine hair would never last. But for those with waves and curly hair this is an interesting read.

If you are feeling crafty and in the mood for some DIY this is a great necklace

100 health remedies that are very simple and easy to get your hands on.

For the nail junkie in us all, this is a very elegant and simple look to achieve.

I think any women who has had to shop for underwear will get a laugh from these illustrations.

Max Factor Second Skin Foundation

Product
Second Skin foundation claims to be 'an innovative formula that creates the look of naturally perfect looking skin'.  And now as I sit here typing and looking at the results of a few hours wearing this foundation...I can say that this does not create perfect looking skin for me.

The first problem I had with this was that the shade was too dark even though I purchased the lightest shade, which is 040 Cream Ivory. I still gave this a try however and tried to us a powder to help lighten it. This did work slightly, however it was still dark.

I purchased this as I had wanted a foundation that would be lighter on my skin for the summer and while this has a liquid consistency, I found that to get it to apply evenly over my face I needed to use more product than I would usually use.

It also becomes very blotchy. I can clearly see areas of my face where the foundation has been completely removed, perhaps because it transferred onto my clothes or I touched it.  Either way it doesn't look very appealing after a few hours wear.

I applied this using a Mac 187 brush which applied it and blended it perfectly considering the liquid texture of the foundation.

Longevity
I had expected this to last all day. However, I applied it at nine o' clock and by three o' clock, there was obvious blotchy and patchy areas on my face. Therefore, I would not recommend this to someone who wanted a foundation that will last all day.
Packaging
I do like the packaging of this foundation.  It comes in a glass bottle with a plastic pump on the top. I like the pump as it means the product in the bottle is free from bacteria. There is 30ml of product in this bottle.
Price
I purchased this on Amazon for £10.56.  However it is also available in pharmacies and in Boots stores. I think Boots sells this for €19.99.

Would I but this again? No.

Elf nail polish: Coral

Coral is a colour that I didn't usually wear as a nail polish but when I saw this I loved it and had to get it.

Product
This  nail polish, I feel,  looks different when applied to the colour from in the bottle.  I think that this has a somewhat 'pearlized' finish.  I actually like this as it is different to the finishes I usually wear.
I think that this applies a little light with the first coat and out of habit I like to apply two coats of polish. I think that two coats of this polish gives a very strong colour. I do find that this polish can apply thicker than other Elf polishes.

Longevity
This polish usually stays on my nails for three days. I would like it to stay longer but considering the price I would consider that a reasonable length for the polish to stay on.

Packaging
This nail polish comes in a small black box. I think this is nice considering the price and many expensive brands don't come like this. The bottle is a rectangular shape with 10ml or .35oz of product inside.  The one problem that I would have with this is that the brush appeared different to other Elf polishes I have used.

Price
I purchased this from Elf and it cost €1.70, which is very inexpensive.

Would I buy this again? Yes.
